Maid Behind The Bar is a lively and hugely popular Irish reel, first found in print and manuscript dating from 1883 (but of course could have been played long before that!). Once again, it’s a brilliant tune to have in your session repertoire. This week we'll learn the melody by ear, then explore how to treat a tune with lots of repetition so that it doesn’t sound…um… repetitive!!

Learn the Tune

Learn the melody phrase by phrase by ear.

Improve the Tune

Improve general musicianship and add rhythm, lift and ornamentation.
